Guns N’ Roses Summer Tour Grosses $117 Million, Sells More Than One Million Tickets

In the words of Axl Rose, “Yowza!” The summer North American leg of Guns N’ Roses‘ “Not in This Lifetime…” tour saw a partial reconstruction of the classic original lineup as Slash and Duff McKagan rejoined forces with the iconic singer. The most anticipated tour of the year delivered with a string of knockout performances as the band took in just under $117 million after coming close to selling out the tour entirely, performing for over one million fans as Billboard reports.

The nine-week jaunt included 25 performances at 21 separate stadiums, selling 1,048,617 tickets out of a possible 1,108,307, good enough for almost 95 percent. The most lucrative of all the shows were the back-to-back sold out nights at Metlife Stadium in N.J., netting close to $11.7 million as a staggering 10 percent of the total sales.

Despite not being the full blown reunion fans had hoped for, the itch to see most of the classic lineup — these three hadn’t played together since 1993 — was too much to deny. Original drummer Steven Adler did sit in with the band on a couple dates, performing a pair of songs with GN’R, leaving guitarist Izzy Stradlin as the standalone missing link.

Largely silent throughout most of the buzz surrounding the reunion and subsequent tour, save for the creation of a Twitter account to confirm he would not be taking place, the six-stringer spoke out recently. Stradlin fired back at Axl’s vague statement about the guitarist’s non-involvement, tweeting, “Bulls–t. They didn’t want to split the loot equally. Simple as that. Moving right along….”

With no end in sight as GN’R’s production manager said they’re already looking to add more shows “far into” 2017, they’ve since revealed early 2017 dates in Japan and Australia which can be seen here. The group will venture to South American next, kicking off the leg on Oct. 27 with dates listed at the Guns N’ Roses website.
